Measuring Length

Getting an estimate of length is important. This task was implemented individually.
  1. The teacher first showed the student how to measure his or her hand span. To do so, the teacher asks the student to open his or her hand as wide as possible and to measure from the tip of the thumb across the palm, to the tip of the pinky finger. later she helped them to measure the objects in the classroom with unused pencil.
  2. The teacher next gave the student a ruler scaled in centimeters and asks the student to measure the length of his or her pencil to the nearest centimeter.
  3. The teacher  observed the student as he or she measures.
